Pluto Is Back in Aquarius: Is France Reliving 1789?
The last time Pluto sat in Aquarius, France had a revolution. Now Pluto is back, and France is in the streets again. Nana Sol lays the two timelines side by side.

In Sol's words
Nana Sol here, from the Sky and Weather desk. On Saturday night, while France was in the streets, I went outside and looked up. Somewhere overhead, far too faint to see, was little Pluto, smaller than our Moon and more than five billion kilometres away.
Pluto takes about 248 years to go once around the Sun. It moved into Aquarius for good on 20 November 2024, our time, and it stays until 2043/44. The last time it sat there, from 1778 to 1798, America won its independence and France had its revolution: the Estates-General, the Bastille, the Declaration of the Rights of Man, the Republic and the Terror.
Astrologers read Pluto in Aquarius as ordinary people taking power back from the top. Astronomers will tell you a frozen world that far away doesn't push anyone into the street. Astrologers call it a clock, not a cause. You can hold both and watch for yourself.
The rhymes are hard to miss, though. Then, war debts and the price of bread. Now, public debt heading past 120 per cent of GDP and fuel up at the pump. And the Limoges city hall that burned on 17 October first opened on Bastille Day, 1883.
One big difference, love. In 1789 ordinary people had no real vote. In April 2027, they do.
So if Pluto is a clock, what would you want changed before it comes round again?
Key facts
- Pluto takes about 248 years to orbit the Sun. It entered Aquarius for good on 20 November 2024 (AEDT) and stays until 2043/44.
- Its last stay in Aquarius ran from December 1778 to the end of 1798.
- On 14 July 1789, the day the Bastille fell, Pluto sat at 18 degrees Aquarius. Today it sits at about 3 degrees.
- By 1788, half the French state's income went on servicing its debts. By spring 1789, bread took 70 to 90 per cent of a Paris labourer's daily pay.
- France's public debt was about 117 per cent of GDP in late 2025 and is heading past 120 per cent.
- This is the astrologers' reading of the sky, set beside the documented history. Pluto's positions were calculated with the Swiss Ephemeris.
