Privacy Policy

Last updated 10 October 2026

This policy explains how Natural Awareness News Agency (N.A.N.A., "we", "us") handles personal information collected through naturalawarenessnewsagency.com. We follow the spirit of the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth), and we've written this in plain English.

1. What we collect

When you join our newsletter we collect your email address, and, if you choose to give them, your first name and postcode. We also record that you confirmed you are 18 or older, that you agreed to this policy, and the date and time you signed up.

If you email us, we keep your email address and what you wrote so we can reply.

Like most websites, our hosting may record basic technical information such as your IP address, browser type and the pages you visit, to keep the site secure and working. We don't build profiles about you ourselves. Advertising cookies are explained in section 10.

2. Why we collect it

We use your information to send you the quarterly newsletter and mini magazine, to suggest local events if you gave a postcode, to answer your messages, and to keep the site running safely. We won't use it for anything unrelated without asking you first.

3. Adults only

Our newsletter is for adults. We ask you to confirm you are 18 or older when you sign up. If we learn that someone under 18 has subscribed, we will delete their details.

4. Where it's stored

Subscriber details are stored in a database provided by Supabase, a cloud database service. Our emails are sent through an email delivery service. These providers store and process information on our behalf and may hold it on servers outside Australia, including in the United States. Where that happens, we take reasonable steps to make sure they protect it in a way consistent with the Australian Privacy Principles.

5. Who we share it with

We don't sell, rent or trade your personal information. We only share it with the service providers who help us run the site and send the newsletter, and only so they can do that job. We may disclose information if the law requires it.

6. Keeping it safe

We use secure connections (HTTPS), access controls and the security features of our providers to protect your information from misuse, loss and unauthorised access. Only the people who run N.A.N.A. can see subscriber details.

7. How long we keep it

We keep your details while you're subscribed. If you unsubscribe, we remove you from our mailing list and keep only what we need to make sure you aren't emailed again. Messages you send us are kept for as long as they're useful for answering you, then deleted.

8. Unsubscribing

Every email has an unsubscribe link. One click and you're off the list. You can also email hello@naturalawarenessnewsagency.com and we'll do it for you.

9. Seeing or correcting your information

You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, or ask us to correct or delete it. Email hello@naturalawarenessnewsagency.com and we'll respond within 30 days.

10. Cookies, advertising and affiliate links

The site uses a small number of essential cookies or browser storage, for example to remember whether you prefer light or dark mode.

We show a small number of clearly marked advertisements through Google AdSense. Google and its partners use cookies (including the DoubleClick cookie) to show ads based on your visits to this and other websites, and to measure them. You can opt out of personalised advertising at google.com/settings/ads or at aboutads.info/choices. Google explains its own practices at policies.google.com/technologies/ads. We don't control what Google collects, and we never pass your newsletter details to any advertiser.

Some links on our Support page, in the Book Nook and in stories may be affiliate links to the family's own tools or to printed goods. If you buy through one, we may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. Affiliate links are marked, and they never decide what we cover or how we cover it.

11. Links to other sites

Our stories link to outside sources and to YouTube videos. Those sites have their own privacy policies, and we're not responsible for how they handle your information. Embedded YouTube videos may set cookies when you play them.

12. Complaints

If you're worried about how we've handled your information, email hello@naturalawarenessnewsagency.com and we'll look into it and reply within 30 days. If you're not satisfied with our answer, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.

13. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top shows when it last changed. If we make a significant change, we'll mention it in the next newsletter.
