El Niño is here. The Bureau says so, and most models say strong to very strong.

Their page, updated on the 17th, says rain's likely below average across parts of southern and eastern Australia, and temperatures above average in most places. They expect it to hang around well into the back half of the year. They also say no two El Niños are the same, and it's only one part of the climate.

Stefan Burns has a video out calling it a super El Niño that's taken a dangerous turn. That's Stefan's view. CyclonesOZ posts storm-forecast videos too, and those are CyclonesOZ's own view of the models.

Watch them if you like. I do. But when there's a warning, I go to the Bureau and the SES, and I'd ask you to do the same, petal.
