Warm winter coming. The Bureau says very likely, and they don't say that lightly.

The winter outlook is in. Days and nights are very likely warmer than average right across the country, with a strong chance of unusually warm, meaning the top twenty per cent of records. Rain's tipped below average in the south-west and south-east, especially Victoria, and the dry signal gets stronger into July and August.

El Niño hasn't been declared yet. The ocean's heading that way. The atmosphere hasn't caught up.

For us on the eastern side of New South Wales, the odds of an unusually dry winter are a bit lower than elsewhere. But we've already had a very dry year. So I'm watching the tank, not the calendar. And I'll check the Bureau again next month, because outlooks change.
