Hackers shut down a sugar mill. A sugar mill! I had to read it twice.

On the 10th of June a cyber incident stopped crushing and cane haulage at Mackay Sugar's Farleigh and Racecourse mills. Mackay Sugar is the country's second-biggest raw sugar producer, about 700,000 tonnes a year, supplied by roughly 1,300 family farms. No restart date was given.

Professor Ryan Ko from the University of Queensland says anything running an operating system can be hit, and these attacks are getting more common.

Now. My mixer has no operating system. It has a dial and a forty-year-old motor and it's never been hacked. I worry for those cane families, though. Harvest doesn't wait. Does anyone check the computers on a farm as carefully as the tractor?
