Now. Cocoa's crashed and my Easter eggs still cost a bomb. Explain that one to me.
The ABC did. Cocoa hit US$12,000 a tonne in 2024 and it's back around US$3,000. But Professor David Guest from Sydney Uni says the eggs we're eating this Easter were made from beans probably bought a year ago. And Chris Jahnke from Australian Cocoa says that while cocoa came down, everything else went up.
Fair enough. I've bought cocoa by the kilo for forty years. I know what a bad year looks like.
Iris slipped me a sugar-free chocolate egg on Sunday. Gorgeous foil. Tasted like a scented candle. Two out of ten, darl, and one of those is for the foil. I'll wait for my price drop and mould my own.
