No more drinking water for cooling data centres in Victoria. Good. Somebody answered my question.

Under the new state strategy, new data centres must source their own renewable power, use recycled water, sit at least 150 metres from homes and stay away from schools and childcare. Premier Ben Carroll says they must power themselves, protect homes and pay their way.

The industry's side: Data Centres Australia calls it disappointing, with rules not applied to other industries. Right now they use under one per cent of the state's drinking water.

Now the fine print, which I always read. It isn't retrospective, so eight pending applications are exempt. My question? What are those eight drinking?
