A third batch of counterfeit Botox has turned up in Australia. Third. Six months after the TGA's first warning in July.
The batch numbers are public, and AbbVie, the company behind the real thing, has confirmed these aren't genuine. Fifteen people have been fined since July. There have been four suspected botulism cases linked to unregulated anti-wrinkle products in Victoria and NSW. A Western Sydney University microbiologist put it plainly: mismeasured Botox can go from beauty treatment to deadly toxin.
