The sunscreen base behind twenty Australian products came from a Perth company that's been on the American FDA's 'Red List' since 2022.

Wild Child Laboratories. The FDA refused its sunscreens entry five times between 2023 and March this year, and a 2024 audit found seven manufacturing breaches. Here, early TGA testing put that base formula at SPF 21 or less, some as low as 4. Eighteen sunscreens have now been recalled or paused.

This is the line I highlighted. The TGA said it only became aware of those breaches while investigating Choice's results.

So a consumer group found the problem, America already had it on file, and our regulator heard last. Who's reading the overseas files, love?
