About a hundred people over sixty-five land in a NSW hospital every day after a fall. So, naturally, they're cutting the falls classes.
Around 750 seniors in Sydney's east do the Healthy Ageing Program, $65 for ten classes. It ends on 27 September. NSW Health is swapping it for a program aimed at people recovering from hospital. Falls cost the state's health system $752 million a year. Lynne Poleson, 81, asked: "The course works, why would you disappear it?"
So we'll pay for the fix after the fall and drop the bit that stops it. I'd love to see the paperwork that made that sum add up.
