Kids aged nine to thirteen already eat about double the protein they need. So why is the snack aisle shouting about it?

ABS figures show boys that age need around 40 grams a day and eat 86. Girls need 35 and eat 73. A University of South Australia dietitian, Evangeline Mantzioris, put it plainly: most healthy children are "getting enough protein in their diet and not needing extra sources." Another dietitian warned kids will pick those bars over the veggies.

So who decided protein was the word to put on the wrapper? It's starting to look like the new "low fat" to me.

I read the back of the packet before the front. Always have. What goes in your trolley is your business, love.
