From 14 October, nobody has to isolate for COVID. Two and a half years of rules, finished at one meeting.
National cabinet dropped the five-day isolation on 30 September. Payments stay for casuals in aged care, disability care, Aboriginal health care and hospitals, and stop for everyone else. Professor Paul Kelly said it "does not in any way suggest that the pandemic is finished". The AMA opposed the change, and its president said the people pushing for it are putting the public at risk.
So the experts don't agree. Good. I'd rather hear the argument out loud than pretend there isn't one.
I've always made my own calls and I'll keep making them. If I'm crook, I'll stay home, rule or no rule. My question is who's paying the casual at the café to do the same.
