Thirty dollars for two tests. I'd like to know who decided that was fine.

Rapid antigen tests have been on sale in chemists and supermarkets since November. The ABC says they cost $10 or more each, around $30 for two or $50 for five. PCR tests at the clinics have been free all along. Results take about twenty to thirty minutes, and a positive still needs a PCR to confirm.

Curtin University's Jaya Dantas says cheap or free tests mean more people use them. The ACTU says workers shouldn't carry the cost. The Health Department says it's working on a nationally consistent framework.

So here's my Christmas question. If testing matters enough to ask us to do it, why is the price on our receipt? I'll test for my own table. I'd like everyone else to afford it too.
