From the first of October, you'll need a doctor's script to import nicotine for your vape.

It's been illegal to buy nicotine vapes in shops for a while. People got around it by ordering from overseas. That door shuts on October 1, and all liquid nicotine has to come in child-resistant packaging. The ABC says the rule follows a doubling of nicotine poisonings and the death of a child.

What caught my eye is how it got through. Health Minister Greg Hunt first tried this in mid-2020 and was pushed back by his own backbench. This time it came with a 180-page impact statement.

Good. I'm glad someone did the homework. My question is whether there are enough doctors willing to write the scripts, or whether people just get pushed back to the black market.
